In a landmark move, under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Heavy Industry launched the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme. Officially notified on September 29, 2024, and implemented from October 1, 2024, this scheme is reshaping Indiaโs commercial mobility landscape.

The PM E-DRIVE Scheme merges the earlier EMPS-2024 framework into a unified two-year strategy to bolster the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across commercial sectors. With an outlay of โน10,900 crore until March 31, 2026, it aims to drive sustainable, affordable, and efficient transportation solutions, reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels and significantly cutting carbon emissions.

A total of โน3,679 crore is allocated for these demand incentives. For e-trucks, a scrapping certificate from MoRTH-approved scrapping centres is mandatory to avail of subsidies.
